In early 2007, we – Funky Loffe and Karl “Kyaal” Alley – decided to put a band together. Our plan was to create real house music with jackin’ beats, funky basslines and some soulful vocals on the top. Pretty soon we got things rolling, and the first tunes were recorded.

In April 2007 we took Kings of the Universe for name, got a myspace profile and with help from our first songs “Take It Easy” and “Shooting Star” we could start spreading the word about KOTU.

A few months later, in the beginning of June, we released our second mp3-single called “They Say Come” which was a cover version of Swedish electronica artist Familjen’s “Kom Säger Dom”. The song was very well recieved and got lots of plays in various clubs throughout of Sweden during the summer.

The next release had to wait until October 2007 but maybe that wasn’t a bad thing after all. Not very long after the third mp3-pack “Rules of Our House/Come Back Home” was released, we got interviewed for Swedish Radio and one thing led to another. Groove “Swedens biggest music magazine” featured “Rules of Our House” on their compilation CD for January 2008. And so the KOTU saga continues.

A few remixes later – Paragon’s “Aavisst/Trappar Upp Det“, Sabo’s “Precis Sån Mode” and last but not least Sam Sparro’s “Black & Gold” – Kings of the Universe is striving more than never before towards producing even better songs and remixes. Real house music is on the rise!
